Which diseases are included?

Healthcheck can currently provide information on the following 22 conditions: Acute myocardial infarction, Carcinoma of stomach, Chlamydia, Chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD), Cirrhosis, Dementia, Depressive disorder, Diabetes mellitus type 2, Generalised anxiety disorder, Gonorrhoea, Haemorrhagic cerebral infarction, Hepatitis B, Herpes simplex genital, Hyperthyroidism, Hypothyroidism, Ischaemic stroke, Lung cancer, Migraine, Osteoarthritis, Osteoporosis, Prostate cancer, Rheumatoid arthritis.

Our criteria for which diseases are included in Healthcheck are based on the leading causes of disease burden in England. This is based on health metrics such as the years of life lost, and disability adjusted life years, defined by the World Health Organisation. In addition to these diseases, other conditions were included at our clinicians’ discretion based on achieving a range of disease severities and a range of organs affected.

Information about the definition, main symptoms, age/gender usually affected, and method of diagnosis has been compiled from medical resources such as the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE), Clinical Knowledge Summaries database, NHS Choices and by our in-house clinicians.
